Lucy's birthday fell in the Half-Term holidays. Scott and I had booked a couple of days off work, so on Monday 24th, Lucy had the traditional opening of birthday presents first thing in our room, then we headed off to Katy and Dan's house in Sheffield.
The obligatory 'kids messing around in the car' photo!
There was a great view over Ladybower reservoir, and Katy got a picture of the family that I love!
We then cut across country to try and hit Stanage Edge. There wasn't a path, so we just made for the bluff we could see in the distance.
Taking a rest in the heather!
Lots of shoving each other over in heather going on!
We had to cross several very boggy bits - all of us were wearing hiking boots except Jack in his trainers, and it was hilarious watching him try and run gazelle like over the boggy areas!
Finally reaching Stanage Edge.
The colours were gorgeous, and we were really lucky with the weather.
Heading back down. Lucy and Jack trying to roll one of the many mill stones that were lying around. They used to be hewn from the rock here.
We then drove back to Sheffield and popped into Katy and Dan's new house which they are getting into a fit state for moving into. The kitchen/diner.
I love the big bay windows.
Back at Katy's current house, she had made Lucy a birthday cake, which the boys decorated.
Katy had made a really good chili for us, and Dan's sister Rebecca, who lives with them was there too.
The wondrous cake!! 21-2 (The only way the boys could make 19!) It looked grim, but tasted amazing!
We had a fab time - Dan came home from work and we all hung out for a bit before our family headed off to our Travelodge in central Sheffield for the night.
